Treasurer Report:

  • Union taxes are being worked on.
  • Insurance has been paid

Activity Report:

  • OCEA Board is planning to meet with HR on 3/19 to make initial contract proposal

Employee Relations Report: None

Open discussion:

  • Adding a Zoom/Online option to attend future OCEA meetings (survey of interest to come)
  • A member asked how to get a hold of the union board without using the city email. Please email us at oceansideocea@gmail.com
  • Contract Negotiations items
    • 3 year contract
    • COLA of 21% over 3 years
      • 7% July of 26, 7% Jan of 27, 7% Jan of 28.
    • Deferred Compensation – increase of City’s contribution to Deferred Comp by $1K annually.
    • Increase in “Medical Cap” (the amount the City contributes to medical insurance)
      • 10% on July of 26, 8% on Jan of 27, 8% on Jan 28
    • Adding a Step “H” to the salary schedule after 18-months at Step “G”
    • Longevity pay similar to Police Union
      • For 9 years of service you earn $1.5k on the first full paycheck in December
      • For 12 years of service you earn $3K on the first full paycheck in December
    • Add bi-lingual pay eligibility for part-time benefited employees
    • Holiday Call-Out rate increase from time and a half to double time
    • Add 8 hours of additional floating holiday time
    • Target classifications for salary adjustment
      • Fleet +8%
      • Evidence Technicians I, II, & Senior +8%
      • Maintenance Worker III +8%
      • Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade III +8.5%
      • Advanced Water Plant Operator III +8.5%
    • Certification pay for Code Enforcement Officers – $1.00
