As you may know, Teamsters Local is proposing to merger with Teamsters Local 986. The attached letter, previously mailed to 911 members, explains some the history between the two locals.
The merger will:
- Create the Strongest & Largest Teamster Local in the entire World
- Make us an unmatched political and economic force
- Even Stronger Representation, Negotiating Power and Contract Enforcement
- Provide more resources to take on employers and fight for our members
- Add to our Southern California Infrastructure
- Bolster organizing at all levels, adding to our numbers and power
The merger will not affect your dues. But it will lay the groundwork for the Union to exert more political power over time at all levels of governance, including at the City of Oceanside.
Ballots will be mailed on February 13, 2025. But the pledge cards are necessary to help us track support.
