#givingtuesday / Catastrophic Leave

Giving Tuesday is a day when you stop the Holiday shopping, (Black Friday & Cyber Monday anyone?) and think about other less fortunate.  Know the drill? Just looking for the form?  Catastrophic Leave Bank

There is an easy way to donate to your Oceanside City co-workers, and no money is exchanged!  When an employee has to take extended time off, they are able to receive Catastrophic Leave, this leave comes from co-workers who donate their Vacation or Comp time to the co-worker in need.

Right now 3 of our co-workers are out and you can help them by donating hours!

A couple of points about Catastrophic Leave:

  • Catastrophic Leave needs to be approved by HR, and Catastrophic Leave Bank form needs to be filled out completely
  • when you donate time, it is at your pay level.  If you get paid $20/ hr and you donate it to someone who makes $10/hr, they are getting 2x as much as you are giving!
  • Employee’s may only donate from accrued vacation, holiday or compensatory time (no sick time).
  • Employees may donate a minimum of four (4) hours to a maximum of forty (40) hours per individual.
  • Donating employee’s leave balances must remain at eighty (80) hours or more after the donation is made.
